Two Carpentersville men charged with throwing Molotov cocktails

Two Carpentersville men were arrested Sunday morning on charges alleging they threw Molotov cocktails at 2:08 a.m. and again at 3:52 a.m. at an SUV parked on the 1900 block of Bristol Circle.

With the help of a witness, Carpentersville police stopped their vehicle on Ball Avenue east of Route 25 not long after the second fire bomb was thrown and arrested Lidio Tirado-Landa, 32, of 422 Blackhawk Ave., and Edel Ramirez-Juan, 23, of 322 Tee Lane, police said. Both were charged with felony counts of arson and criminal damage to property, police said.

Tirado-Landa, the driver, was drunk when he was arrested and Ramirez-Juan was taken to Sherman Hospital with an injury to the back of his head believed to have been caused during a party on Monroe Avenue earlier in the evening, police said.

One of the men told police they threw the two Molotov cocktails at the SUV because that was the vehicle used by the men who beat them up, police said. The first did little damage, police said.

Kane County Judge Kevin Busch set their bonds at $7,500 each with court dates on Sept. 26 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

Tirado-Landa and Ramirez-Juan will be taken to the Kane County jail Monday afternoon.
