Fans think older just might be better

For some of us there's no such thing as too many antiques or too many antique fairs.

They will want to visit the international fair at the Merchandise Mart that starts this week.

The 100 dealers include one from Lake Barrington, Hypoint Art and Antiques, which specializes in American folk art. Their buyers will find 19th Century weathervanes, whirligigs and Amish quilts.

Other dealers come from across the country and Canada, England, Japan and Turkey.

Treasures will include rare books, 18th and 19th Century American stoneware, antiquities, paintings and prints, furniture and all kinds of accessories and jewelry.

The preview night on Thursday, Oct. 2, costs $50 and benefits Lincoln Park Zoo.

Admission at other times is $15. Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6.
