10-year-old fatally shot
A 10-year-old girl has been the victim of gunfire Chicago police say was exchanged by rival gang members.
The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the victim as Nequiel Fowler.
Chicago Police Officer Daniel O'Brien said the girl was shot Monday afternoon, less than a block from her family's home. According to police, witnesses said the 10-year-old was playing with a group of friendswhen rival gang members opened fire.
The injured girl was taken to the University of Chicago'somer Children's Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
According to police, there has been no arrests in the case.
