Chief Illiniwek a symbol, not mascot

In your Nov. 15 article, you referred to Chief Illiniwek as a "mascot."

That is wrong, Chief Illiniwek is a symbol.

I refer you to the book titled "Commemorative Edition Chief Illiniwek, A Tribute To An Illinois Tradition." I suggest you obtain a copy and read it. By referring to the chief as a mascot you are only feeding the misinformed politically correct click who forced his unnecessary, ill-conceived and unjustified demise.
