Young musicians competition: Entries must be postmarked by Oct. 1. The North Suburban Symphony invites young musicians to apply for the 2008 James Glacking Young Musicians Competition. Open to vocalists and instrumentalists, except pianists, in ninth through 12th grades residing in either Lake or northern Cook County. Submit an application, along with a DVD or CD of two contrasting selections and a $30 entry fee. Forms are available from the music departments of most area high schools or at northsubsymphony.org.
