Getting your kicks on Route 66

If you spot a parade of classic Jaguars Sunday wending their way from Elk Grove Village to Chicago, don't be surprised.

About 60 members of the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club in Great Britain have shipped their cars to an Elk Grove Village warehouse, which is serving as the staging area for a journey from Chicago to Los Angeles on Route 66.

The highway is such a key part of American motoring history, it once had its own television show featuring two young men finding adventures on the road in their Corvette.

The cars, imported and unpackaged from shipping containers with help from Cargo Tech Inc. in Elk Grove Village, will begin tracing Route 66 in Grant Park, said Simon Cronin, the club director. After arriving at Santa Monica Pier in California, the cars will be shipped back to Europe.
