Chicago curfew resumes this week
Chicago police are reminding Chicago Public School students of citywide curfews this week.
That's as students in the nation's third largest school system prepare for the first day of classes on Tuesday.
Curfews are enforced for students in the city from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays and from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekends.
Minors who are out during those hours can be questioned by officers. Unless the student has a valid excuse -- like returning from church -- the minor can be cited for a curfew violation
Since January, police say over 18,200 curfew violations have been issued.
More than 400,000 students attend Chicago Public Schools.
