Cash machine stolen out of Des Plaines business

A burglar stole an ATM out of a Des Plaines store this week, police said.

The heist occurred between 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday at Smokers Mart, 1184 S. Lee St.

The thief, who was wearing a dark face covering and dark clothes, got in by smashing the glass front door. He then dragged the machine to the doorway, put it inside a light-colored sedan and drove away headed north, police said.
