Man accused of molesting young girl at Gurnee store

A Grayslake man is in the Lake County jail after police said he sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl.

John D. Pistilli, 52, of 215 Saddleshire Court, is charged with felony counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse.

Gurnee police said the attack occurred Aug. 21 inside Community Thrift Store, 3440 Grand Ave., Gurnee.

Pistilli approached two girls, ages 5 and 7, in the back of the store and put one of his hand inside the younger girl's shorts and underwear, police said.

He asked the girl about a tag on her shorts, removed his hand and left the store, police said. Police were called to the store and searched the area but could not find the suspect. Five days later, however, a store employee recognized Pistilli when he returned to the store, police said.

The employee called police.

Pistilli is being held on $1 million bond. He is next scheduled to appear in court Thursday, Sept. 18.
