Special needs the focus of health fair

Giving Back to the Community, an Educational and Health Fair, is a community-based program sponsored by University of Illinois Extension.

Giving Back to the Community is a community fair that helps service providers get in touch with their target audience; a fair where demonstrations, free instructional and educational materials are handed out to visitors, and where people can ask one-on-one questions to service providers.

Giving Back to the Community will provide educational and health care materials to all visiting families, but special emphasis is given to people with special needs. More than 30 service provider agencies will participate at this fair which is taking place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 at Second Baptist Church of Elgin, 1280 Summit St.,

"This will be an extraordinary community event letting Elgin know that schools, corporations, businesses, churches, universities, hospitals, and social service agencies do care about the community" said Debra Buffett Special Assistant, Children with Disabilities, University of Illinois Extension. "We want to provide knowledge and resources that will enhance the community" said Debra Buffett.

This community fair will connect adults, children, and senior citizens to health care, financial assistance, community programs, educational opportunities, and many other services and opportunities.
