Round Lake man charged with DUI
A Round Lake man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after swerving off the road and slamming into a utility pole in Round Lake Wednesday night.
Daniel Cancino, 21, 793 S. Providence Lane in Round Lake, was heading southbound on Cedar Lake Road when he swerved into the utility pole near Forest Drive, said Round Lake Deputy Police Chief Francis Foy.
The incident took place at 2:50 a.m., Foy said. Cancino was transported form the scene to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with assorted non-life threatening injuries, Foy added.
Aside from the DUI charge, Cancino was also charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with an expired drivers license and not having proof of insurance, Foy said.
He is expected to appear in a Waukegan courtroom on Oct. 31.
Foy added there was no disruption of utility service from the accident, and that Cedar Lake Road was shut down for about an hour while the accident was tended to.
