Jonesing for some Beijing-style TV?

While biding time for wrestling to move over, MyNetworkTV airs the "2008 Tour of Gymnastic Superstars" at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, on WPWR Channel 50. All the Beijing medalists pop up again, including Nastia Liukin, Shawn Johnson, Alicia Sacramone, Jonathan Horton and Raj Bhavsar, joined by old-timers Shannon Miller and Paul and Morgan Hamm.

Let the debates begin

The major broadcast networks and cable news channels cover the first of three presidential debates between Barack Obama and John McCain at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26. Even BBC America will carry it as part of its "World News America." PBS' Jim Lehrer will moderate the debate from the University of Mississippi.

'Midnight' in afternoon

WFMT 98.7-FM airs its annual "Midnight Special Folk Festival" from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, from the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie. Tom Paxton is the headliner.

Anti-'Heroes'

As a wartime satire, "Kelly's Heroes" doesn't quite have the bite of "M*A*S*H," but it's an enjoyable lark with a terrific cast, including Clint Eastwood, Donald Sutherland, Telly Savalas and Don Rickles as rogue U.S. soldiers trying to pull off a gold heist in the middle of World War II. It's at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, on Turner Classic Movies.
