Briefs: Library OKs land purchase
St. Charles Public Library trustees took the formal step of approving the use of reserve funds to purchase land for parking spaces to accommodate a would-be expansion of the library. The land, on which a house sits, is across the street from the library. A special reserve fund set aside to assist with land acquisition for the expansion will be used to pay for the purchase. The actual expansion of the library is contingent on a tax increase request to pull in the necessary money for the construction. That tax increase request isn't expected to appear on ballots until 2010.
