Meadowdale 50th rescheduled for Saturday
The 50th anniversary reunion for the Meadowdale International Raceway in Carpentersville is set for Saturday, Sept. 27, after rain forced the party's cancellation earlier this month. The celebration will take place at from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the raceway, located off Route 31, just north of Route 72. Entry is free to the event, which will feature old race cars, music, food and presentations from drivers who experienced the rush of racing down the home straight.
Political sign rules
The City of Geneva reminds residents and political candidates that political signs may only be placed on private property. Placement of any sign on public property or right of way without prior approval of city council is strictly prohibited, and such signs will be removed. As a rule of thumb, the public right of way is that area between the edge of pavement and the public walk. In neighborhoods without sidewalks, the right of way is determined by dividing the total width of the street in half, and then applying the resulting measurement to the house side of the curb measured in (example: if the total width of the street is 30 feet, the edge of the right of way would then be 15 feet in from the curb/edge of pavement). For more information, call building commissioner Chuck Lencioni at (630) 262-0280.
