When will drives to ban smoking end?
I am writing in regard to your article about a proposal to ban smoking in senior and subsidized housing.
When is all of this nonsense going to end? What right do all these lobbyist and do-gooders have to tell me or any other smoker we cannot smoke in our own home, that we alone pay the rent on?
Where are the Constitutional rights of smokers?
It was bad enough when they banned smoking in restaurants and other public places, and smokers did nothing to stop this.
Now they are trying to invade the privacy of our homes with their self-righteous thinking.
Nobody knows more than a smoker what we doing to our own health. We most certainly don't need self-appointed advocates saying what is right for us, and I personally resent it.
The stronger issue should be what is being done about drug control. Absolutely nothing because there is too much money to be lost if it were enforced.
Instead, these pompous few have taken it upon themselves to take up this nonsmoking ban to save the world.
Why can't certain buildings within each complex be restricted to smokers only instead of just imposing a total ban?
As to the woman in the article who was interviewed and said she had to cover her face with a Kleenex to avoid the smell and damage to her lungs: Why not invest in a clean air machine in her unit and come down off that high horse?
This is not a communistic country. Everybody has rights, and we most certainly should be able to exercise these rights within our own homes.
