Free "Grease"!

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Classic Cinemas will show the original 1978 musical "Grease" at all its Chicagoland theaters for free! If you ask me, the coolest place to see it would be the Tivoli in Downers Grove, just because Classic founders - Shirley and Willis Johnson - have extensively renovated the grand old lady just in time to celebrate her 80th anniversary coming up Christmas Day. By the way, you can dress up as a Pink Lady or a T-Bird for "Grease" and no one will think you're nuts.

1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 13 and 14, at all Chicagoland Classics Cinemas theaters. Check our movie ads.

Silent "Red Heroine"

Here comes a rare opportunity to see Wen Yimin's 1929 martial arts silent movie banned by the Cultural Revolution. It remains the only existing Chinese silent action film from the period. The plot: a female warrior kung-fus the living daylights out of the army that killed her grandmother. Boston's Devil Music Ensemble provides an original score inspired by Chinese classical and folk music traditions. Call (312) 744-6630 or go to www.chicagoculturalcenter.org. Free admission!

1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14 at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St., Chicago.

"Angels in the Dust"

The public is invited to view and discuss this documentary about the AIDS crisis, centered around an African orphanage for children suffering from the disease. No admission charge. A one-page handout will be given to viewers. Check out ccuu.org or call (847) 359-8440, ext. 4.

7 p.m. today at the Countryside Unitarian Universalist Church, 1025 Smith Road, Palatine.
