Teen room at Glen Ellyn library almost ready
Glen Ellyn Public Library's another step closer to completing its teen room.
Now with the Glen Ellyn Public Library Foundation raising $17,500 and Dan and Midge Anderson of Glen Ellyn's donation of a matching grant, the $35,000 project is in the works and teenagers should have a new hub come November.
Library Director Dawn Bussey said many area organizations and individual residents donated money for the project.
"It was a real community effort to raise the funds to make this teen room possible," she said.
A second-floor study room at the library was closed a year ago because of mold. That mold has since been removed, and the room is being revamped into a space for teens.
Plans include new carpeting, light fixtures and a paint job with vibrant colors. The room also will have laptops available for visitors and will accommodate groups gathering for meetings or study sessions.
Construction has been in progress for about a month.
"We're very excited to finish the room," Bussey said, "and open it for the teens in our community."
