Man airlifted after Lake Villa-area crash

A helicopter flew a Wisconsin man to the hospital with head injuries following a one-vehicle rollover Monday night near Lake Villa.

Crews took the man to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where he's in stable condition, Lake Villa police Sgt. Jim DeCaro said.

The man was apparently trying to pass another vehicle while motoring south around 5:30 p.m. on Route 83 near Grass Lake Road, just south of Town Line Road, when he lost control of his Jeep, and it rolled over east of the roadway, DeCaro said.

Traffic was shut down for about an hour while crews cleaned up. Police continue to investigate.
