Briefs: Talk about Batavia zoning

The City of Batavia Plan Commission will conduct a community input session regarding the city's update to its zoning regulations, at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 in the city council chambers of the Batavia Government Center, 100 N. Island Ave. The zoning regulations, a set of conditions, limitations, and allowances establishing how one can and cannot use or build on property. This includes the basic use (residential, commercial, industrial) and building bulk (structure height, size, setbacks). Beautify Geneva

Volunteers are needed to plant fall flowers in the flower beds throughout downtown Geneva Saturday, Sept. 6. New volunteers should report at 8 a.m. to the beds by the Geneva Post Office, James and Third streets, to be assigned a location. Bring garden gloves, rakes, pruning shears, brooms and trowels. Geneva 1998 reunion

Tickets are on sale online at www.ghsvikings98.com for the Geneva High School Class of 1998 reunion, which is Sept. 26-27. They are $50 per person for the Sept. 27 celebration at the Geneva Golf Club.

Revel with reptiles

Dave Dinaso's Traveling World of Reptiles show is at 2 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave. Dinaso gives his audience an up-close, hands-on, educational experience about reptiles and amphibians from around the world. Registration is required for this family program. Visit the youth services department to sign up.

Geneva east-side history

The Geneva History Center begins the "Brown Bag Series" of presentations at noon Sept. 9 at the center, 113 S. Third St. Educator Margaret Selakovich will discuss overlooked Geneva neighborhoods, such as the east side. An armchair tour will feature quaint cottages and grand homes, as well as stories about immigrants, pioneers, businessmen and scoundrels. Admission is $3 for nonmembers, $2 for members. Collect for Marklund

On Sept. 12 and 13, Marklund will need volunteers for McFry Days. Volunteers are needed to hand out coupons for McDonald's french fries in exchange for spare change. Marklund is a not-for-profit network of services that helps infants, children and adults with severe developmental disabilities. Among other facilities, it runs its main campus at Mill Creek and the Philip Center for Children in Bloomingdale. Sell kids clothing

The Alice Gustafson School PTO in Batavia is seeking sellers for its Gently Used Children's Clothing and Toy Resale Sept. 19 and 20. The sale features all-season infant through teen clothing, maternity wear, baby equipment and furniture, shoes, uniforms, sporting goods, costumes, books, games, videos and toys.
