Fire causes $100K damage to St. Charles home

No one was injured in a fire Wednesday that caused $100,000 in damage to a house at 60 Renaux Blvd. in St. Charles, officials said.

Firefighters arrived at 1:39 p.m. to find a fire on a rear deck and exterior wall. The blaze was under control in about 20 minutes, but firefighters remained on the scene into the evening.

No one was home when the fire broke out. The fire was reported by a neighbor. An investigation is under way but the fire is not considered suspicious, officials said. The house has been deemed uninhabitable.

St. Charles firefighters were assisted by Batavia, Geneva and Elburn fire departments.
