Teen killed by police

Chicago police fatally shot a 17-year-old man after investigators responded to reports of a shooting on the city's South Side.

According to the Cook County medical examiner's office, Marvin Williams of Chicago died at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

A police spokesman said the officers, who were responding Tuesday afternoon to the report of a shooting, spotted a red vehicle believed to be involved leaving the scene.

After officers pulled over the vehicle, one its four occupants, who allegedly was armed, tried to flee. The man, later identified as Williams, was shot.

Mark Payne, a spokesman for the city's Independent Police Review Authority, said the agency is investigating the shooting.
