Labor Day 3-on-3:

The Hampshire-Burlington Jaycees and NKEC-School's Out Community Fun are sponsoring a Labor Day Weekend 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament. The tournament will start at 9 a.m. Saturday, at Cambridge Lakes Charter School, 880 Wester Blvd. in Pingree Grove. There will be boys and girls divisions, with brackets for 8-9 years, 10-12 years, 13-14 years, 15-16, 17-19 and 20-plus. Fees range from $50 -$80 per team. Elgin food drive:

The United Way of Elgin has planned a community wide food drive as part of it plan to help others on the 14th annual Day of Caring on Sept. 5. From now until then, donations of nonperishable foods can be dropped off at: any Elgin fire station; the United Way office, 2022 Larkin Ave.; the Centre, 100 Symphony Way; and city hall, 150 Dexter Court.
