Cook County ducks will of the people
The latest meeting of the Cook County Board - or as one member describes it, "the Crook County Board," - demonstrated how nine board members disregarded the needs and desire of their constituents.
There was and is no need for the sales tax increase.
The cost of goods and services has risen with inflation as do the taxes.
An item that cost $100 last year now cost $110 and the sales tax is increased for that additional $10.
Thus, there is additional revenue for the county.
These additional funds can adequately cover the cost of a well-managed county government, but then, we are oblivious to any type of well-managed government, having never experienced one in our city and state.
