Suspect in Champaign killing arrested in Chicago

Champaign police say a suspect in a recent shooting that left one man dead and another wounded has been arrested in Chicago.

Federal marshals and Cook County police arrested 27-year-old Granville Sanchez Johnson on Chicago's West Side Friday night. Johnson is wanted for allegedly shooting to death a 28-year-old man and wounding a 21-year-old man in Champaign late Wednesday.

Champaign police were following up a tip Thursday when they searched an apartment building and evacuated several nearby homes in an effort to find Johnson.

He is held at the Cook County Jail, charged with murder and attempted murder.
