Sears workers help soldiers

Sears customers and employees raises raised $1.4 million to help military heroes, through a corporate program to help the nation's leading volunteer home rehabilitation organization, Rebuilding Together.

The Sears program, Heroes at Home, helps make repairs, improvements and modifications to military families' homes. The fundraising ran from May 22 to July 6, for a tally of $1.4 million.

"Sears Holdings is proud that our customers and associates have risen to the occasion and supported our Heroes at Home initiative, especially now when families are being challenged by a tough economic environment," said W. Bruce Johnson, interim CEO and President, Sears Holdings.
