Time to tax faith-based institutions

Many municipalities are at wit's end trying to maintain services yet find paying for such is beyond their financial budget. It seems that an approachable solution would be to tax the faith-based institutions. These are more commonly known as the Catholic Church, synagogues and other houses of worship. Removing their tax exempt status would definitely ease the burden on cash-strapped municipalities.
