Lake Delton cleanup begins following breach

LAKE DELTON, Wis. _ Cleanup crews have begun extracting debris that filled the Wisconsin River after summer flooding caused Lake Delton to breach.

Wisconsin's Department of Natural Resources says cleanup started Friday and will continue for weeks.

A nonprofit group from East Moline, Illinois, called Living Lands and Waters is managing the effort.

Group member Brent Pregracke says workers are starting by looking for houses and large objects first, and then for objects that aren't so apparent.

He says workers try to have fun, but it's tough to see people's memories that floated so far away.

Mike Havlis is also a member of the group. He says the river is one of the prettiest he's seen, with less pollution than he's used to seeing.
