Judson men fall; women win
The Judson University men's soccer team opened the 2008 campaign hosting the Judson University Soccer Classic Friday.
Unable to generate any offense, the Eagles fell 1-0 in the opener against McKendree. Alex Tyton kept Judson in the game netting 5 saves.
Judson will face Grand View (Iowa) at 2:30 p.m. today.
Women's soccer
Judson 3, Grand View College 0: Freshman Ashley Williams kicked off her collegiate career with a bang nabbing 2 goals to lead Judson in this season opening shutout. Williams scored both goals during the second half assisted by Kathryn Pansino and later scoring unassisted.
Christina Thornton got Judson on the board by scoring the lone first half goal off a double assist from Lynsey McFarland and Kristin Rukhaberlen.
Mackenzie Fowler was in goal for the Eagles collecting her first collegiate shutout with 15 saves.
The Eagles will face Graceland (Iowa) in a match at 3:30 p.m. today.
Women's volleyball
Judson falls in tournament: Facing Bethel College (Indiana) and Mt. Mercy (Iowa) to open the 2008 campaign, Judson fell in three games to Bethel (25-16, 25-6, 25-22) before losing to Mt. Mercy in four games by scores of 24-26, 29-27, 25-18 and 20-15.
Danielle Dull led the Eagles with 32 kills including a career high 22 kills in five games, 10 blocks, 9 blocks and 22 digs. Debra Leganski (17 kills, 41 digs, 6 assists) and Kiley Helgerson (42 assists) contributed.
Judson will face Michigan-Dearborn at noon and St. Francis at 2 p.m. later today.
