2 dentists lose licenses following root canal death
Illinois regulators have suspended the licenses of two Chicago dentists following a patient's death during a root canal.
Friday's action means brothers Joseph and Lawrence Feldman aren't allowed to practice dentistry in Illinois pending further hearings.
The state launched an investigation following the death of Chicago school principal Georgette Watson in December. The 46-year-old Skokie resident was principal of Brentano Math and Science Academy. She died of cardiac arrest.
Investigators found the dentists and their staff gave her too much sedation and failed to take her medical history, to monitor her adequately and to perform proper emergency CPR.
The complaint says the dentists failed to make sure their staff had proper training.
