Aurora man robbed at gunpoint
Aurora police are looking for a man who beat and robbed a store manager at gun point Monday afternoon.
Dan Ferrelli, public information officer for the Aurora police department, said a 26-year-old manager of a store in the 1200 block of North Lake Street was approached by the suspect in the store parking lot while the manager was on his way to make a bank deposit.
The suspect jumped into the managers car in the parking lot, displayed a gun, then told the manager to drive away, Ferrelli said.
After driving around for several minutes, Ferrelli said the suspect hit the manager over the head with the gun, grabbed the cash and checks inside the bank bag, then fled the car in the 1000 block of Palace Drive.
The manager called police after the suspect fled, Ferrelli said. The manager was transported to Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora and released, Ferrelli said.
Ferrelli did not disclose how much was taken from the scene, but said it was a substantial amount of money.
Police describe the suspect as Hispanic, looked to be about 20-year-old, is about 5-foot-6, 160 pounds with brown eyes and a bald head.
He was wearing all black with a white towel wrapped around his face, police said. The suspect was also missing part of his left eyebrow and spoke with a deep voice.
Anyone with information should contact the Aurora police department at (630) 801-6655 or the Aurora area CrimeStoppers at (630) 892-1000. Individuals that release information that leads to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $5,000, Ferrelli said.
