Williams has 3 TDs in scrimmage
Illinois, ranked No. 20 in the Associated Press preseason poll released Saturday, didn't have any fans inside remodeled Memorial Stadium on Saturday morning.
But during the team's dress rehearsal for the Aug. 30 opener against Missouri in St. Louis, it wasn't hard to imagine Illini fans going wild to celebrate the big numbers put up by the Juice Williams-led offense.
Williams gunned touchdown passes to Arrelious Benn (45 yards) and Will Judson (13 yards) and rushed for a third score. He finished 16 of 25 for 196 yards.
Freshman running back Mikel LeShoure, perhaps responding to the way classmate Jason Ford shone in Monday's scrimmage, piled up 95 yards and a TD in 14 carries.
Ford finished with 14 carries for 24 yards, while first-stringer Dan Dufrene carried just five times for 11 yards.
In the ongoing kicking competition, freshman Derek Dimke and sophomore Matt Brandabur each converted a pair of field goals. Dimke, though, also had a 42-yard kick blocked.
