Food drive Saturday at Wrigley Field
The Chicago Cubs wives will host their sixth annual food drive at Wrigley Field on Saturday before and during 2:55 p.m. game against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Proceeds will benefit the Lakeview Pantry. Since its inception in 2003, the event has helped raise more than 54,000 pounds of food and more than $14,000.
In cooperation with the Cubs organization, fans making a donation of 10 nonperishable food items or $20 will receive a 5x7 autographed photo of a Cubs player, with a limit of two photos per person while they last.
Donations will be accepted next to the Harry Caray statue outside Wrigley Field's Gate D at the corner of Sheffield Avenue and Addison Street from 1 p.m. until the third inning.
"We are proud to support the efforts of our players' wives to help the Lakeview Pantry and its tremendous work in our community," said Mike Lufrano, Cubs senior vice president of Community Affairs.
"The Cubs Wives food drive is an essential component in Lakeview Pantry's ability to get food to those in need in our community," said Gary Garland, executive director of Lakeview Pantry. "Not only is it our largest annual food drive, but it comes in late summer when many other sources of food are becoming scarce."
