Chicago firefighter rescues young girls from blaze

Authorities in Chicago say a city firefighter rescued two young girls from a burning building after running into a burning apartment.

Officials say the 2-year-old girl and 6-year-old girl were in critical condition Saturday with smoke inhalation and burns at a Chicago hospital.

Chicago Fire Department spokeswoman Eve Rodriguez says fire Lieutenant Nick Cairo found the girls hiding behind a mattress and carried them outside.
