Chicago drug dealer gets life

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- A Chicago man has been sentenced to life in federal prison for dealing drugs near an elementary school in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Dewanis Rogers was accused of distributing crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of the school.

He pleaded guilty in February to conspiracy to distribute more than 50 grams of crack after being previously convicted of two felony drug charges.

Rogers was sentenced last week by U.S. District Judge Linda Reade. There's no parole in the federal system.
