Each company can make a difference
I would like to respond to your editorial, "Our View: Community service calls on all of us" (Aug. 4). In the Northwest Suburban area, there are many companies that realize there is a need to help those less fortunate than ourselves. It is just not reported enough.
The Palatine Home Depot has a community arm known as Team Depot. Over the years, we have "given back to the community" 300 plus times.
Team Depot has done over 20 major renovation projects for nonprofit groups such as Clearbrook Center, Shelter Inc., Journey's Pads to Hope, Palatine Opportunity Center, The Bridge Youth and Family Services, Countryside Center, and many others.
The Daily Herald has generously covered many of these projects.
On Aug. 5th, Palatine Home Depot sponsored about 130 underserved children from the Northeast Palatine Summer Camp to a day at Navy Pier, also providing staff to help supervise.
Our associates put countless hours of dedicated work into our communities, and this is without pay. They believe we have a moral obligation to help others.
If every company did just one thing for the community, just one time a year, we would have a better world in which to live.
Step up to the plate, and give what help you can to those who need it. They are out there.
