Thieves raid Palatine cell phone store

Seventy-five cell phones, plus PDAs and accessories were stolen from the Palatine Sprint store, 1590 N. Rand Road, between 3:40 and 3:48 a.m. Aug. 26, police said.

The burglars smashed the front door glass to get inside, and used a security bar from the east exit door to force open a supply room door.

Police responded to the automatic alarm, but the offenders were gone, leaving police to follow a trail of cell phone boxes from the supply room out the south exit door and into the alley. The cost of the break-in was not immediately known.
