Briefs: Prosecutor going to DeKalb

A prosecutor is leaving his position in Kane County after seven years to become first assistant state's attorney in DeKalb County, officials said this week. Bill Engerman, 45, joined the Kane County state's attorney's office in 2001 and was lead prosecutor in the recent convictions of two Aurora gang leaders charged a 1989 murder. In a statement, Kane County State's Attorney John Barsanti said his office is "sad to lose a lawyer of such skill, determination and professionalism."

Fresh produce in Algonquin

Thursdays in Algonquin mean it's time for fresh fruit and vegetables. The Downtown Algonquin Partnership Merchant's Association is holding its annual farmers market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays through Oct. 2 in the parking lot on South Harrison Street, in the village's Old Town district. Village celebrates 50 years

To commemorate its 50th anniversary, Sleepy Hollow is selling a limited edition diecast replicas of police squad cars. Cars come in a clear case with a base and feature hoods and door that open. The cars are $50 plus $10 shipping and handling. Add an extra $10 to receive a Sleepy Hollow police department shoulder patch. All proceeds benefit the the Illinois Special Olympics.
