Indiana jail escapee caught in Chicago

GOSHEN, Ind. -- An inmate who escaped from jail in Elkhart County, Indiana, with five others has been arrested in Chicago.

The arrest of 30-year-old Lee Phillip Sims on Tuesday came 13 months after the six men escaped by breaking through a steel mesh that covered a recreation area in the old jail in Goshen, Indiana. A new jail opened in November.

Sims was being held on a $100,000 bond on charges of dealing cocaine and public intoxication at the time he escaped from the northern Indiana jail.

Sims is the third of the six escapees to be arrested. A teenager was arrested in Elkhart, Indiana, the day after the escape. Another man was arrested at a family member's home several days later.
