Speaker coming back to Elgin by popular demand

Dr. Vincent Gaddis will speak again in Elgin. His May 6 talk at Elgin's Gale Borden Library was so well received that it seemed essential that we bring him back again to speak so that those who were unable to hear him then will have a second opportunity. This event is co-sponsored by the Elgin Chapter of Rainbow Push and Fox Valley Citizens for Peace & Justice.

Questions and possible solutions include: Is America a Post Racist Society?

What Happened to Martin Luther King's Dream? Revolution in Values: Why We Must Embrace Martin Luther King's Call for the Beloved Community.

The event is planned for 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4 at the Elgin Township Building,

729 S McLean Boulevard, Elgin.

The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

There will be time for questions and discussion after the talk. Admission is free. Park in the lot behind the building; enter through the rear door.

Dr. Gaddis has a doctorate in intellectual history from Northern Illinois University. He is professor of history and Chair of the Department of History, Philosophy and Religious Studies at Benedictine University. He currently is researching the history of the Civil Rights Movement. His forthcoming book is "Martin Luther King and the Philosophy of Redemptive Suffering: Love, Leadership, and the Civil Rights Movement." Dr. Gaddis is also pastor of the New Generation Christian Center in Aurora.
