Rindone's hat trick leads Marmion over Aurora Central

Marmion scored seven goals in the first half as they stormed past Aurora Central 7-0 in their season opener. Alex Rindone finished with a hat trick and Sam Duffield added a pair of goals.

Kaneland 3, Belvidere North 3: Nick Williams, Kevin Durrenberger, and Genaro Garcia all scored for the Knights (0-0-1) as they drew with Belvidere North.

Girls tennis

Benet 5, St. Charles East 4: Stefanie Youngberg and Erin Bowman gave the Saints a 6-3, 6-3 win in first doubles while Cate Esler and Sam Bagwski picked up singles wins.

Girls golf

West Aurora 172, Lemont 210: Karina Diaz took medalist honors for the Blackhawks with a score of 39. Madison Whitt shot 43 and Tina Stengle finished at 44.

York Tournament: Belvidere North and St. Francis tied for the team title with 357, two ahead of Rockford Lutheran's 359. Ember Schuldt of Sterling won medalist honors with a 73 and Kayla Stueland of the Spartans took second with a 77. St. Charles North was led by Marin Beagley, who finished fifth overall with an 85.

Women's soccer

Heartland 2, Waubonsee 1: Sara Merker tallied for the Chiefs with two seconds left in the first half. But Heartland tied with 7:30 left and scored again with two minutes remaining in double overtime. Alanna Russo stopped 12 shots for Waubonsee.
