Big hotel to open:

The Hotel Intercontinental officially opens with a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. Sept. 8 at 5300 N. river Road in Rosemont. The 556-room, 12-story hotel near the Rosemont Theater will include several high-end restaurants, one by the acclaimed team of Rick Tramonto and Gale Gand. The hotel also has 34 meeting rooms and four ballrooms, holding up to 1,100 guests.

Registration opening:

With interest heightening in the November presidential election, the League of Women Voters and Arlington Heights Memorial Library are teaming up to offer voter registration. Events will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 6, noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 4 and Oct. 5, 4-8 p.m. Oct. 6 and Oct. 7, the last day to register. Two forms of identification are required with at least one showing the current residence. Registrants must be at least 18 and have resided at their current address at least 30 days. The library is at 500 N. Dunton Ave.
