Briefs: Portion of Corron Road closed

Utility work being done on Corron Road in Plato Township will close the street between Bowes and McDonald roads through September, according to a news release. Traffic will be rerouted north and south to Dittman Road using Bowes, Plato, Burlington and Silver Glen roads, as a result. For details on the project, call (630) 208-3138.

If so, the Kane County Democratic Party is holding a fundraiser for candidates Tom Sandor for auditor, Ed Nendick for clerk of the circuit court, Frank Craig for recorder and Stan Hickrod for coroner. ECC and Roosevelt get joint grant

Elgin Community College and Roosevelt University were recently awarded a multiyear grant for $891,000 by the National Institutes of Health for the Bridges to Baccalaureate program. The partnership develops academic year programs at ECC and summer programs at Roosevelt, preparing minority students to transfer from ECC to four-year programs in the sciences.
