Round Lake man arrested in fatal stabbing
A Round Lake man has been charged in the stabbing death of a Waukegan resident, police announced Thursday.
James M. Webb, 23, of 304 Apollo Court, is charged with first-degree murder. He was arrested Thursday and is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing this morning.
Police say Webb murdered Cydric Jones, 36, of Waukegan, in Round Lake Beach. Jones was found, stabbed but alive, early Wednesday outside a house on the 1500 block of Kildeer Drive.
Investigators believe he was attacked outdoors less than two blocks from where he was found, said Round Lake Beach Deputy Police Chief Rich Chiarello.
The blade of a kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered at the scene, police said. The handle of the knife was found in the area Thursday after a police search, Chiarello said.
Jones spoke to police before he fell unconscious, authorities said. He later died at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Police on Thursday declined to say why they believe Webb killed Jones. Information became available that led investigators to the suspect, Chiarello said.
Chiarello and Chief Doug Larsson thanked the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force for its assistance in the investigation.
