Read about principal's China trip on his blog

Libertyville High School Principal Brad Swanson is on the other side of the world at an education conference in China -- but you can read about his experiences online.

Swanson is keeping a diary about his trip at his blog, www.district128.org/blog.

It includes tales of taxi rides, meeting Chinese students and other principals from around the world and descriptions of his sight-seeing excursions.

He's also posted many photos of China.

Swanson is among about 80 administrators and teachers from English-speaking nations participating in the gathering, which concludes Saturday. It's sponsored by China's education ministry.

Other delegates from Illinois include: Mundelein High School Deputy Superintendent/Principal John Ahlgrim; Thomas O'Rourke, the principal at Thomas Middle School in Arlington Heights; and Audrey Haugan, the principal at Maine West High School in Des Plaines.

Administrators from the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia also are attending.
