Quizzing your Apatow aptitude

It's hard to believe that just three years ago, relatively few people had heard of Judd Apatow.

That changed with 2005's "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," which racked up $109 million at the box office and made raunchy comedy fashionable again. Since then, Apatow has become one of Hollywood's hottest filmmakers, and one of its most prolific. Consider this list of post-"Virgin" hit comedies that Apatow wrote, directed, produced or otherwise had a hand in: "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby," "Knocked Up," "Superbad," "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and this week's "Pineapple Express."

Before checking out the new film, test your Apatow aptitude by taking this little quiz:

1) Name the actor who appeared in all the "Spider-Man" films and played a major role in Apatow's cult-favorite TV show "Freaks and Geeks"?

2) In which film did a character played by Apatow's wife, actress Leslie Mann, throw up on the main character?

3) One scene in the Apatow-produced comedy "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" has Dewey talking to the Beatles. Which actors played the Fab Four?

4) Which of these comedies did Apatow direct?

A. "Knocked Up"

B. "Superbad"

C. "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"

5) In addition to "Freaks and Geeks," what was the other acclaimed-but-quickly-canceled TV series that Apatow was involved in?

6) Steve Carell of TV's "The Office" played the lead role in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin." Which of his castmates from "The Office" played a love interest for Dewey Cox in "Walk Hard"?

Answers: 1) James Franco, who also stars in "Pineapple Express"; 2) "The 40-Year-Old Virgin"; 3) Jack Black (Paul), Paul Rudd (John), Jason Schwartzman (Ringo) and Justin Long (George); 4) A. "Knocked Up"; 5) "Undeclared"; 6) Jenna Fischer

John C. Reilly plays the title character in "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story"
Christopher Mintz-Plasse, left, Jonah Hill and Michael Cera play nerdy friends looking to end high school with a bang in "Superbad."
