Illinois man found dead on I-94 frontage road
CALEDONIA, Wis. -- Police in Wisconsin have asked for help from the public to find the driver involved in a hit-run accident that killed a 22-year-old Illinois man.
According to police in the Racine County community of Caledonia, the body of Justin Hammons of South Roxana, Illinois, was found just after 2 a.m. Saturday on a frontage road off Interstate 94.
Police Sergeant Gary Larsen says Hammons was staying in the area and apparently was returning from a tavern. He had a bicycle with him but was not believed to be riding it because it wasn't damaged. An autopsy indicates Hammons was standing when hit.
Larsen says the suspect vehicle is believed to be an SUV or pickup truck that could have damage to the front end or undercarriage.
