Police stopping vehicles:
The Arlington Heights Police Department will be conducting a Roadside Safety Checkpoint from 9 p.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday and from 9 p.m. to midnight Sunday on South Arlington Heights Road. Officers will slow traffic, stopping cars at predetermined intervals to check for defective equipment, licensing and insurance violations, and DUI drivers. The checkpoints are funded by a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Disability forum:
The Wheeling Township Advisory Council on Disabilities will be hosting a disability legislative forum at 7 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 500 N. Dunton Ave. State Sens. Dan Kotowski and Matt Murphy and State Reps. Sid Mathias, Elaine Nekritz and Kathy Ryg will be at the forum, which is open to the public and will feature a presentation focusing on members of the community who are living with a disability and are in need of service.
