Skokie police officer injured in shooting

A police officer from Skokie was hospitalized and another person was killed after a shooting in suburban Chicago.

Lincoln police say the officer was pulling over a vehicle suspected to be involved in a bank robbery on Monday when gunfire came from the vehicle. The officer returned fire.

The Lincolnwood Fire Department says the officer-- whose name was not availble-- and the other person were transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston.

Police say the person died.

Skokie police say the officer was hospitalized for trauma but wasn't injured. Authorities say early reports that the officer had been shot were incorrect.
