Stealing yard signs is just small-minded

Sure as the sun rises each day, a presidential election cannot come to pass in Arlington Heights without someone coming by and stealing my yard signs.

It happened in 2000, it happened in 2004 and it happened once more over the weekend.

It's just sad that someone thinks they can silence another by stealing yard signs.

It doesn't send a message nor will it change anyone's vote.

It does, however, speak volumes about the person who commits the act and shows just how small-minded and petty people can be.

So to the person who stole my signs, congratulations, you accomplished nothing. I will go to my local township office, give more money to the campaign you oppose and get replacement signs to put up. At worst, I will be without a yard sign for a few days.

If this happens to you, as I know it frequently does in Arlington Heights and across the nation, file a police report. Do not compound the act by going out and stealing someone else's sign.

As I said, it accomplishes nothing.
