Briefs: School theft probe continues

Prosecutors are reviewing new documents to help determine whether a former secretary stole more than $100,000 from a student activity fund at Dundee-Crown High School. Carpentersville police turned the case over to the Kane County state's attorney's office in the past month. "We have new documents in the case, and the investigation is ongoing," said Justin Fitzsimmons, chief of the special prosecutions unit at the state's attorney's office. Fitzsimmons would not comment on the nature of the new documents. The former school secretary oversaw the account between 2004 and 2006. Citing medical reasons, she resigned in 2006, two days after she was removed from oversight of the account.
